Humane Education

In our quest to be "more than a shelter", one of the major goals of the Animal Rescue League of NH is to develop age-appropriate programming for the schools and children's groups in our community.  Education is an important responsibility in the sheltering business.

Our humane education program teaches children:

  • Responsible pet ownership

  • Dog bite prevention

  • How to respect wildlife

  • Kindness

We are hoping that these teachings are a way to get our message out into the public and hopefully reduce the number of unwanted animals coming into our shelter each year

Diane and MollyOur humane education program is available to schools, scout troops, children's groups, and after-school programs.  The program consists of a 1 to 1 1/2 hour fun, sometimes silly and interesting lesson, hands on presentation, and a special visit from "Molly", the visiting classroom certified therapy dog.  We even a "life-like" dog available for groups that cannot have a real dog present.  Children will also receive a coloring book, worksheets, and information to suit their needs

Please contact our shelter for more information on this fun and valuable resource or click here for a humane education handout.  You can reach us at 472-3647 or email Danielle.

If you live in one of the communities we reach, be sure to check out our TV Show, For Pets Sake!
